Bobby’s Burger Palace: Monday Bites

Bobby’s Burger Palace: Monday Bites

Burgers are one of those things you crave every now and then. Even when I was a vegetarian I craved that hearty mix of protein, carbs and veggies with whatever condiment I was in the mood for. For a quick burger head out to Bobby’s Burger Palace at the Princeton Market Fair where you’ll have your share of flavorful burgers to choose from along with a few lighter options if you are seeking that.

The Food: All burgers run from $6.75-$7.75 and can come with Beef, Turkey or Chicken. The signature from Bobby Flay is to “Crunchify” your burger which means putting a handful of potato chips on top (save the calories for the fries). The menu is simple and easy to choose and ranges from a Classic ($6.75) American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato and Red Onion to something more Flay like the Santa Fe which comes with Queso sauce, Pickled Jalapeño and Blue Corn Chips ($7.75).

The Buffalo Style is a good option with Chicken Breast and is pretty much the old stand by of Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches (Red Hot, Blue Cheese, Watercress) for $7.75. Looking to cut carbs? Try the Topless Burger which is any burger on top of baby greens w/ balsamic ($8.50).
French Fries or Onion Rings will not dissappoint and run you $3. If you like Sweet Potato fries you’ll love Bobby’s that come with Honey Mustard Horseradish. Each table has a set of condiments and that is pretty much why you would order fries. The condiments are all really tasty.
Go to a burger joint and order a salad? I know. That’s just wrong. But if you are feeling like a little fresher lunch, try the Crunch Salad ($7.50) which is Romain, Chopped Veggies, Tortillas, White Cheddar with a Balsamic Dressing. This one is almost as good as the AC Chopped Salad at Bobby’s Steak House in AC at the Borgata (go!).

If you want to nap in your office after lunch, follow it up with a Milk Shake ($5) and come in some interesting flavors like Vanilla Bean, Coconut, Mango, Blueberry-Pomegranate.

The Atmosphere: Modern Retro curved counters and bar stools make this a easy spot to lunch solo if you eating alone. There are a few tables on the mall side if you are sitting with a bigger group. The floor can get loud but if you are sitting next friends you can carry a conversation. The space is clean has decent lighting. The kitchen is somewhat open so you sit and drool as you watch the plates of burgers head out thinking “ooh–is that mine?!”.

The Service: Efficient. Place your Order in the front of the restaurant and you’ll get a number. Find a seat and wait a few minutes for your lunch to be brought to you. The place is bustling and the staff always seems pretty happy and helpful. The menu here is simple so you won’t need much once you sit down making this a great spot for lunch because you can be in and out with little downtime.

The Drinks: With New Jersey’s lame liquor laws you really can’t reap the benefits of some of Bobby Flay’s cocktails like the Frozen Cactus and Pear Margarita or have a Beer with your Burger. In the Princeton location you can opt for Lemonade ($2.75), Boylans Soda ($2.50) or some Fountain Soda ($2).

The Last Bite: Tasty burgers made to order with quick service. The Market Fair has ample parking so this is a great spot for a quick lunch in Princeton with a buddy at work. Leave the clients at home as this space can get loud and a bit distracting so it isn’t very conducive for a work meeting. The timing is right so you’ll even have some time to take a little stroll around the mall and burn off some of that burger before heading back to the office.
