Have a hankering for Sushi? Try Midori Sushi
If you don’t want to go into Princeton, try Midori Sushi located next to the Princeton Fitness and Wellness Center in Skillman. This modern Japanese restaurant is a great option for fresh sushi with great service. You can be in and out in an hour or less.
Food: I usually assume if the Miso Soup is good the rest will follow suit and Midori kept my assumption true. For a quick lunch option try the Lunch specials in the back of the menu. The Maki Lunch Special includes a solid Miso Soup and has the typical options for rolls. ($8.50/2 rolls $11.50/3 rolls and add $1 if you want Soy Bean wrap instead of Nori). The fish is fresh and presented well. For an appetizer go for something different like the Himachi Kama. This is the slightly fatty part behind the head (the collar area) of a Yellow Tail. Simply presented, the Himachi Kama was lightly flash fried and full of flavor. This is served with a a traditional Ponzu Sauce but I barely took a dip because the fish tasted so good ($11.50).
If you are looking for hibachi, try the Bento Boxes: The Ton Katsu (chicken Katsu is also available but not on the menu) is a good option ($8.50), as are the plump Shrimp or fresh Salmon ($10.50). Bento boxes are served promptly and comes with veggie Shumai, Edamame, a California Roll & Veggies. Bentos also include Miso Soup. Perfect for a comforting lunch.
Atmosphere: Modern decor but the place is a bit dark. Opt to sit by the window to get some light. Noise level is good for a meeting or chat with a friend. Midori would be good for a client meeting, but not if you are looking to “impress”. If you eating solo there are two flat screens that might entertain you.
Service: Very friendly and efficient without rushing you. The servers are aware of time. When ordering the Himachi Kama our server warned it that it would take 10 minutes. It came sooner but it was a good way to show they are aware of time and know the food in the back of the house. Very friendly and organized with busing tables and checking in after you were served. Like the comfort of your own home or office? Midori delivers for a $2 fee if you are within 8 miles. (takes 45-60mins)
The Drinks: BYOB
The Last Bite: Midori III is a great place for a quick lunch serving fresh sushi and Hibachi with friendly and efficient service. Ample parking makes this a perfect option for a lunch out when you are “on the clock”.
