This weekend in Trenton, there is a great art and music event that takes place annually. The Art All Night in Trenton is a 24-hour long arts extravaganza that showcases over 800 local artists of all ages, skill levels and mediums. In addition to the myriad of art displays, there are several musicians playing throughout the weekend as well as interesting events taking place. Some that I might attend are the Smart Phone Scavenger Hunt (using QR codes-cool!), Creating a Fire Tiki out of recycled Steel or getting my body painted. OK… Maybe I wouldn’t get my body painted but that sounds fun.

Trenton Art All Night Festival @ 19 Everett Alley
When: This Saturday and Sunday June 18th & June 19th

There are a bunch of bands playing and you can find the full line-up on the website but here are two that are our Favorites so check them out!

Description: Mouth of Wilson (M.O.W.) are a local indie rock ensemble who’s debut album was produced by Michael Kianka, who has worked with Bruce Springsteen, Lindsey Buckingham, Bon Jovi, and Billy Joel. (Have you heard of any of those bands?) I hear that lead singer extraordinaire, Chris Arland might be playing accoustic at 5! Go listen to them and find a new favorite local band! Check out some clips here on CD Baby.

CHRIS HARFORD AND THE BAND OF CHANGES

Website: www.chrisharford.com
Description: Chris Hartford has been writing and performing music since the 1980’s, and has a 9 records released. His sound is varies from acoustic folk to heavy rock. Chris varies the musicians in his band. It is worth checking him out if you missed him Thursday night in Princeton.

My favorite local outdoor concerts by far is the Sourland Music Festival. This festival is tucked up on a hill in the Sourlands Mountains and has a great vibe. The Sourland Planning Council is an non-profit who works on protecting the ecological integrity, historical resources and special character of the Sourland Mountain region so proceeds go to this cause. Beer and food vendors are there but I’ve always brought my own picnic. For anyone who is new to this area, the view here is awesome and makes you feel like you are up in Vermont in a way. This is a great spot to visit with kids as there is a huge open space for them to run around and play.

Sourland Music Festival @ Hillsborough Country Club
